Geraldine Painter Counsellor

Gerry Painter
I offer counselling to individuals, providing a confidential and safe space to explore your thoughts and feelings. My aim is to work together with you to understand you and your experiences, and how these may have contributed to your life or thrown up difficulties and challenges for you. This in turn may help may help to provide a new perspective for the future.
My therapeutic style is integrative, thus I draw from a number of theoretical approaches so that I may work with what best suits you, and I strongly believe that the relationship that develops between counsellor and client is key. I offer my clients a warm, supportive, non-judgemental relationship through which they may hopefully gain a deeper insight into themselves and their issues, and therefore see opportunity for change.
Personal and professional development are important aspects of my work as a counsellor and ongoing training is a key part of this development. I have worked as a volunteer at The Listening Post in Stroud for nearly two years, and have worked with clients with varying backgrounds and a broad range of issues. My practice is based in North Wiltshire, easily reached from Bath, Swindon, Malmesbury, Chippenham, Tetbury and Cirencester.

Nutrition - Coming to Park Practice in June

The food we eat can have a significant effect on every aspect of our lives. Making adjustments to your nutrition and lifestyle can make a big difference to the way you feel and your health.

If you suffer with Irritable Bowel Syndrome, evidence is showing the relatively new FODMAP diet can significantly improve symptoms in 75% of people. Studies show that reducing weight by 5-10% can cut risks of heart disease, diabetes and stroke and reduce blood pressure and cholesterol.

So whether you want to improve your energy, take control of your weight, improve your performance in sport or have a specific health concern, a consultation with a registered dietitian could benefit you.

Each consultation is tailed to your specific needs, to suite your lifestyle and to help you make achievable changes.

Dietary analysis is also available where your diet is nutritionally analysed, this is useful to check for vitamin or mineral deficiency, carbohydrates and protein intake for sport or for assessing overall energy intake or weight gain or loss.

So whether it's for a specific reason, or just to help stay fit and healthy, a dietitian can be beneficial to everyone.
